Annie's Star Quilt Guild
North Quarter Representative
NEWS FROM THE NORTH QUARTER We made the trek up the hill to Oroville for this meeting. We met at the Haufbrau Restaurant where our every whim was catered to. They are not open on weekends, but they opened for QGNQ meeting. We felt very special, no interruptions during the meeting, just quilts and more quilts talk. The topic of discussion was "How do guilds entice their members to make Community Service Projects, and to buy and sell Opportunity Quilt Tickets". Some guilds have members buy tickets as part of their membership obligation. Others have a few members who are always involved and leave it at that. This last year at the Sun Country's quilt show they had pieces of fabric cut and laid out for the public to place into blocks. Then members of the guild sewed the blocks and displayed the finished blocks during the show. It was a great success and they ended up with finished community service blocks to be sashed for complete top. Our guild will host the July 2008 meeting. Our meeting will be held July 19 and our theme will be Lady Bugs. If you have Lady Bug item (not the real thing) to help us decorate the tables please call Cassy LaVigne or Debbie Gibson. The International Quilt Festival at Long Beach was discussed, this will be the first time it is being held on the West Coast. Information may be reached at web site www.quilts.com
If you want to know more or have any question, please contact Debbie Gibson or Gay Evans.
