Quilt Shows

ASQG has a reputation of presenting a wonderful show with great quilts. Many quilts of all kinds turn the Arts and Crafts building at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds into a beautiful festival for two days every other October.

Committee

Co-Chairs: Debi Soares and Kaywood Fuqua

Treasurer: Robbie Libby

Opportunity Quilt Committee: Goldie Olsen and Taren Smith

Date Changed
Carol and Missie were running into some date conflicts with potential vendors so the consensus is to change the dates of our show.  We also have to deal with the availability of the fair grounds so our NEW Quilt Show dates are Friday, October 23rd thru Sunday, October 25th.  This allows vendors to go to Houston Market and shop and everyone can go to Pacific International.  I don't know when River City has scheduled their show but that wasn't a problem several years ago.

Opportunity Quilt

Thanks to Goldie, Taren Smith and Robbie Libby the Opportunity Quilt is well under way.  Hopefully many of you have had a hand in making it.  If you haven't please give one of them a call and arrange to get a block.  People are ALWAYS interested in how many members worked on the quilt and impressed by the group effort! Some of the committees already have chairladies and are making plans.  We will have a Quilt Show meeting on Tuesday, April 22nd, at 7:00 in the Honey Run classroom ( thank you, Carmen!).  The agenda will include discussion of a Featured Quilter and volunteers for other committees.  Please plan to attend, bring a friend and your ideas! We're looking forward to a wonderful endeavor; don't miss out!

- Debi and Kaywood

Opportunity Quilt Kits
We have completed kitting.  If you would like more kits or knew someone who missed out, give me a call.  We have around 50 kits yet to find homes.

Honey Run has agreed to allow us to turn in finished blocks (in the original kit bag please) at the quilt shop.  I will be delivering a marked basket to drop off your blocks on Thursday.  Also, would you please return any “usable” scraps from your kits?  We can use them to pull together a small quilt for the winner of the “most raffle tickets sold”.  Anything “usable” is something big enough to do a strip on your original pattern.

Thanks so much for your support on this effort.  The blocks are FABULOUS!!

-Taren
