What's New!

Message from the President:

I think everyone really enjoyed Karen Boutte, quilt Diva, who spoke at our last meeting. We have a couple of new things being considered for the upcoming year. First, we will be talking about E-mailing the newslet ter to those who wish to have it sent that way. Those without computers or the ability to print a copy will continue to receive a hard copy via the mail. (newsletter block directions page can be singled out for print ing when E-mail copy arrives to you.) This will begin next September when dues come due.

Next, we are asking members who donate a quilt to community service to pin a value slip to it. (Please use a safety pin or a few stitches to attach) This shows your estimated value of materials only. You will receive a receipt for that donation at the following meeting. This makes additional record keeping for CC, but we feel this is very necessary. You can use this for your taxes, but most importantly, it gives the guild a value to base our quilt donations to conform to the latest state non profit rules. Community Service will ask those receiving quilts for fund raisers to give us a written statement of how much they earned for our records.

Lastly, in July, our birthday meeting, we will hold a swap meet. Those bringing quilt/sewing/needle arts re lated stuff will get first chance to pick up stuff. Rules are being formulated by the board. Community Ser vice will get first refusal of remaining items and the Boys and Girls club will get any leftovers. Decent mate rials only can be brought; no "scroungie dogs".

Love, Nancy
